Take a look at many situation comedies in the US. You will see women slapping men, but not men slapping women. Just last night I watched an old Three Stooges episode called "Brideless Groom", in which voice teacher Shemp has a few hours to find a bride to inherit a fortune. In this episode the women are slapping around the men and men slapping and hitting men, but never a slap or hit from man to woman. There is a long, long history of this kind of behavior in US comedy productions.
